I’m endlessly fascinated that the stories we encounter and tell about ourselves change what we notice, believe, and create. That they are not just descriptions or containers of meaning but also blueprints for becoming.

My work grows out of a humanities degree, a painter’s way of seeing, and thirty years in strategic communications. That includes serving as spokesperson for Three Mile Island nuclear generating station and founding an independent business-to-business PR firm that I led for 20 years. I’ve spent a long time helping people and organizations (and myself) understand the stories we tell. And somewhere in there, my way with words got me named one of “Twitter’s Top 75 Badass Women,” which still cracks me up. 

My consulting work, through short-term engagements, helps leaders clarify the current story of their organization, the one it is growing toward, and the language that can guide communication.

And finally my painting is, for me, a practice of gratitude, wonder, and remembering that I am not actually in charge of everything. 

Across all of it, I am just trying to pay closer attention to what is possible.
